The Network of University Medicine represents the central national research infrastructure that provides needs-oriented solutions for transformative health research. This infrastructure ensures optimal framework conditions for researchers, increases responsiveness and enables a coordinated approach.
The NUM operates a transparent, user-friendly and scalable infrastructure based on trusting collaboration and interdisciplinary expertise. This supports researchers in multicenter collaborative projects along the entire research chain to the highest degree.
To this end, we offer researchers a comprehensive portfolio of tools, consulting and services to generate high-quality research data and biospecimens. These resources are made available to the scientific community in accordance with the FAIR principles and in compliance with legal, organizational and technical standardization and harmonization requirements. This will enable scientific knowledge to be gained that will promote improved prevention and treatment of diseases and thus contribute to the health of the population.
An essential component of the implementation of this vision is the establishment of a data room for clinical research data in Germany. In the future, this data room should include all types of clinical research data, regardless of whether they originate from routine clinical care or from supplementary documentation of clinical studies.
